Kyoto — foreign license conversion

Kyoto: conversion at the Hazukashi center (Fushimi). The knowledge test is offered in several languages; request it when you get your exam number. Confirm the list officially.

    Booking by phone only: Mon–Fri 15:00–17:00 (not on holidays). They give you the date to hand in your application (main building 2F, window 10). Expect about 2 months until the document check and knowledge test, and about 2 more months for the driving test. If you cannot talk in Japanese, bring an interpreter to the interview.

  • Certified Japanese translation of the license

  • Recent 住民票 (no My Number, with nationality/residence)
  • Residence Card
  • Photo 3×2.4 cm taken within 6 months
  • Blue or black pen
  • Fees and extra documents depending on issuing country
