Traffic lights

  • Green light

    Green light

    青信号(青色の灯火)

Go: vehicles may go straight, turn left or turn right, and pedestrians may cross. Bicycles and mopeds that must use a two-stage right turn go straight to the far corner first, then turn.

  • Yellow light

Stop at the stop position. You may continue only if you are already so close that you cannot stop safely. Pedestrians must not start crossing; those already crossing should finish quickly or go back.

  • Red light

  • Green arrow

    Green arrow

Even when the main light is red or yellow, vehicles may go in the direction of the arrow (a right arrow also allows a U-turn). Bicycles and mopeds that must use a two-stage right turn may not follow a right arrow.

  • Yellow arrow (streetcars)
